Web Design Project – SmartGrass America

The Smartgrass project runs on the WordPress platform with WooCommerce powering the cart.

The project includes a custom table-rate shipping module to manage oversize shipping of large turf roles by a designated freight company. We found that the closest business model we could look at for comparative purposes was the carpet industry (similar size/shape/weight of product, as both carpets and artificial turf are shipped on large rolls!)

We quickly discovered that very few of the leading carpet companies offered online ordering of rolls, and we quickly discovered why. Considerable effort was required to setup the ordering and shipping systems, so that rolls of turf could be ordered through the website in the desired incremental lengths, and shipping rates could be returned to the customer which were fair and accurate.

Aside from the shipping and ordering complexity, the website also offers private access to dealers via Login, with tiered product pricing based on user groups. Very few sites combine direct-to-end-user sales with distributor/dealer sales as smoothly and efficiently as SmartGrassAmerica.com

A basic marketing and SEO package was included with the project, along with some social media hooks and Business Places integration.
